by Jasmine Beltran

Florence Nightingale was an astonishing entrepreneur, and the founder pf modern nursing. She lived from 5/12/1820 - 8/13/1910. Her nationality was British and she lived in London, England. She is known for pioneering modern nursing. Florence was awarded the Royal Red Cross (1883), Lady Of Grace Of Saint John (1904), and the Order of the Merit (1907).

Her "nickname" was "Lady of the Lamp" because, while tending to wounded or sick soldiers, the only visible object was her handheld lamp, which lit up her path.  In Spanish, "La Lampara", translates to "The Lamp", which is where we go our name for our school Newspaper
